Thanx to be beloved friend's I am starting to listen to some pretty strange music now days. I was just introduced tp Cazwell. This song is all "all over your face."
In this era of cookie-cutter pop stars, Cazwell is one of a kind, his own special creation. That much is obvious once you survey some names this New York-based rapper, songwriter and entertainer cites as influences: Biggie Smalls, Deee-Lite, The Beastie Boys, Cyndi Lauper. Like those groundbreakers, Cazwell puts the Icon in Iconoclast. His propulsive beats and tongue-twisting rhymes are carving out a new musical style, while his streetwise fashion sense and eye-popping videos serve up visual panache to match. Cazwell's art isn't about lifestyle with a lower case L, the type you purchase off-the-rack after reading a magazine article, but a Style of Life, one which celebrates everyday existence, from his first waking moments to the hazy, shady episodes that unfold in the wee small hours.
Cazwell grew up in Worcester (pronounced "Wusta"), Massachusetts, an industrial city with few outlets for an artistically-inspired adolescent. Growing up, Caz hooked up with a butch dyke who went by the handle Crasta Yo, and the two began concocting rhymes together. "We would write about the silliest things when we started: Cheeseburgers and our Converse sneakers." They cut their teeth in basement parties full of skaters and punk rockers, and tapes began to circulate. They called themselves first Wordsworth, then Morplay. In 1999, the duo moved to New York, and started lining up gigs. Morplay released an album, Thesaurus Metamorphosis, with the help of renown DJ and trend-spotter Larry Tee. The two ended up splitting up on good terms and Cazwell began his solo career.
One other aspect sets Cazwell apart from many of his peers: His sexuality - and his fresh mindset about it. "I want to make gay people cool again. Yeah, we have Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, but not all gay men want to makeover your house. Growing up gay, you have to think outside the box your whole life. I want to show what the gay mind can do for hip-hop, for electronic music, and how interesting that take can be." And although there is a smutty, playful side to some of his raps, who Cazwell sleeps with never upstages who he is as an artist. "To just talk about gay stuff seems so surface level.
I feel lonely, my boyfriend is cut off from me from his phone and i really miss him. My sister came back to Oregon and left today to go back to school. I did really nothing today and i feel a bit down and sad. But spring is coming! but yet i am still a bit sad.
Last night i went out to 80's night at the Fez Ballroom. I had some of my best friends come out for my birthday and we tore up the dance floor. All the 80's moves i grew up with seem to submerge out of my body and project itself through my movement. Plus dancing with your friends is so much fun and better! It was a great night and i will remember. Now i need to plan something for my straight husband! Emmy I'm going to be needin some help!
Many of you do not know that i do not like having my birthday. We for many things! i never really had a big birthday. I always shared my birthday with my older brother Daniel. And him being first born, he always got what he wanted and i was left with the things he didn't want. Growing up with birthdays one day apart was hard for me. There would be one cake and the decorations i wanted were never there. The gifts i wished for turned into clothes i never wanted. Now that i am older and do no live in the same house as my brother, i hate having birthdays. Besides getting older is not fun anyways. So without farther typing. Happy birthday to me Derek! Below is photos from this past year!
My lil sister came up before her plan ride to Idaho. We went out with my two best gay pals, Robert and Tony. First we started at decarli. Which is the bar robert works at. Great food and great drinks. Robert is a kick ass bar tender. Well after robert got off, we headed over to Silveroado's to watch some male dancers. Remind you that my sis has never been to a gay bar. So when walking in to see Naked MEN slapping their ding dongs around on stage, made her blush and giggle with shyness. After two beers the loud family traits came out again. The flaring of the nose, smiling. All the drunk face and the motion of arms trying to talk. She was having a gay ole time. After the second beer her brain started to work. Asking questions like' "i wonder what the strippers are thinking when they strip?" well Low and behold she asked one and he told us his mind goes blame. LOL Well 3 dollars later the male strippers love her and asked her things about herself. Well we poured ourselves in this morning at 3am and than woke up at 5am to take her to the airport while i went to work. Sister's are great to have when you can get drink with them!
Being a teacher to children so young really makes me want to become a father. I want a child that i can love. Make them feel so special. Share things about my life and hope to inspire them to make the most out of life. To get them interested in thing that could change their life. To cuddle them with love. Dress my child appropriate to the weather and teach them what to wear and not to. To let them know that they are loved and no matter what happens their father's are there for them. My clock is ticking.I want to have that feeling that new mother's have. Holding their baby, rocking them to sleep, playing games, feeding with a bottle' and going through the first words and steps with my baby. I really really want to be a great daddy one day. But until than. I will just keep my children at school closer to my heart! Derek
When it comes to holiday's, i'm the biggest queer about them' And working with children it is my job to teach them about the holiday and what they can do to celebrate it. First off i told them that they need to wear green or they would get tickled.(due to pinching would cause tears and hurtful anger) Most of my class wore green and kept telling my to "Kiss them, they are Irish!" Which for all of them is not true. I told them stories about leprechaun's that loved to turned things we like to eat green. So when lunch came, our milk turned green, The pizza for lunch was green, the green bean were green and the green apples too. My class laughed and thought leprechaun's were cool. When asked "if they had a pot of gold, where would they hide it?" Most of them replied, "under my bed, in my car, in the closet, and my favorite, in daddy's drawers." Over all it was a great St. Patrick's day which my class enjoyed. BTW i did face paintings of shamrocks, rainbows, pot's of golds, and hearts. I'm a clown too. Ugh i hate clowns!
So my Amigo The maverick life tagged me in his blog about getting to know me. Well here i go.
Sports
I have done many sports in my life. From Cheer leading, Swimming, Soccer, Track and field, baseball, football, wrestling, and the newest one rugby. I come from a family that is really into sports and is as well musical. The sports really came out of me in high school and continued when i was in college. But i love sports and i am pretty much a girlie type of guy but when i play i sport the jock comes out of me. BTW that is me with the ball.
Family
When i was younger i hated my family. They teased me about when i played in my mother's pumps and make up. At times my brothers would dress me up as a girl and we would make music video's and i would be the back up dancer or in YMCA the gayest one. I grew up with three older brothers and one sister. Times were tough for my family. My mother left my father after she heard my father was cheating on her with another woman. My mother when back to school and got her teaching degree and after those years it made us all stronger as a family and grow to like and love my family.
Father/sister For the longest time i hated my father. He broke up my family, hurted me deeply. I lost my faith and trust in my father. The man i looked up too. The man i wanted to become. When my mother and father parted ways, my sister when to live with him. I would call her when she was over there and told her how much i missed her and she need to be here. My sister was and still is one of my best friends. This is her quinceanera. But she is now off at college just about two hours from pdx.
Heritage
For those of you that do not know my Heritage, I am latino/mexican and Native American. I'm enrolled with my tribe and love when they send information on it! GO NATIVES!!!
Music/Dancing
I live to Dance! i love music and love the beats that pour out from it. I was a ballroom Dance teacher and still have hips that don't lie as Shakira would put it. I love going out to a club/bar and have the music grooving and my body moving to the beats and having everyone watch as i bend and twist and shake my body with the music. I have won many dance contest.
I probably left something out. But that's most about me!
Now i have done many sports in my life. Swimming, Football, Soccer, Cheer leading, Rugby, Track and field, and wrestling. But today i set something most people aim to do. I ran a 15k today! I woke up this morning at 5am with my mind set on finishing the race with friends. I laced up my one lucky rainbow lace and my other shoe pumped for his race. We arrived at the race a little bit before 8am. I did not eat anything this morning and the weather was not the best for running. But that is what i get for living in Oregon.
Upon arriving i had to check in to get my "timing chip and Velcro strap" and my bib number. I signed up with the Nike run club and they had my packet and shirt. Well i could not find the tent they set up so i stood in the fit it line and waited for a good 25Min's. By than the 15k started and i had gotten a bad start. Until they rushed me to the start of the line where this older man was there and asked me if i was running the 15k too. I just shaked my head yes and ran. I was in last place until i got up to Broadway the main drag of downtown Portland. I caught up this the last person and cheered on they to keep going strong. Everyone i passed i cheered and yelled and told them to keep going. I was so proud of myself for encouraging other to run.
It was at Terwilliger curve the run started to hit me. Running up hills fucking suck, but luckily i had a great play list to keep me going. As i was running up the hill i kept thinking about my boyfriend and how i wished he was there at the finish waiting for me, cheering me on. He was there in my heart and head. Every song on my play list brought me closer to him and made me run faster. I even skipped a lil bit up the hill and sang out loud and laughed. I think thought i was crazy.
Well at the top of the hill the bagpipers were blowing and the music made me go a bit faster. Well that was cause i was going down hill. All they way down terwilliger my feet and hand were going numb. i keep shaking them out and leaping so i can get the feeling back. It was a great feeling when passing all the hot police officers who stopped traffic so we could run. I did three times to get water on the way but did not for the bathroom. I think that cut some time out. But on the final leg of the race, my tiredness started to hit me. i was still in the middle of the race.
It was this really nice guy that i had encouraged on the way down the hill that he ran next to me, telling me that "this is it buddy' go for it' we are almost there!" With his encouragement, he gave me the last of my energy to push myself to finish this race. I do not know what my time was. Just that i finished was a huge goal for me, and knowing that i can do it makes me happy and smile. It was a great race and i will not forget this. I might even do another one.
At my school we just had the foreign exchange students from portland State come to our class room and talked a bit about their homes and what they like about it and how long they have been in Oregon. But mostly they came to play with the kids. So those are some pics but notice in the first picture how everyone is givin the peace sign... why is that?
After a two hours of flying from Seattle, we are there in Santa Rosa California. Great weather all the way down. When arriving at SFO, we got on the air tram and took it to the rental car. That was the quickest we ever went through. We drove past the wonderful Golden gate bridge. Driving up to Sonoma, took me back to my childhood we=hen my family would take trips to cali to visit our family. So green, so crisp. We met up with John's parents this evening and had dinner at El Torito. Great mexican food. Well tomorrow we are off to take in the city and fill our wine glasses. Hopefully i will be over this sickness. So far, So good!
